    This was formed by reverse reactivation of the Purbeck—Isle of Wight fault zone. These thrusts trend west—east, dip moderately towards the south and have controlled later basin development and subsequent phases of inversion.

    2. The cliffs either side of Eype and the coastal stretch between Thorncombe and Watton Cliff provide the best view.
